The registration period for municipalities/regions for TOUR du DUERF 2018 is over!

We hope to hear from you in spring 2019!

For information purposes only, see here the requirements for TOUR du DUERF 2018.

All municipalities and regions in the G.D. of Luxembourg  are invited to get involved in the TOUR du DUERF campaign.

While a local council resolution or suchlike is not necessary for participation/registration, approval must at least be obtained from the municipality, e.g. the mayor, local authorities, etc.

Every municipality must have at least one local contact for TOUR du DUERF whose details must be provided during registration.

Period during which TOUR du DUERF is taking place: 17 September to 07 October every year

Registration deadline:

Climate Alliance will accept registrations up to and including 16 September.

Participation of regions and their associated municipalities

When regions participate in TOUR du DUERF, they are able to request that (individual or all) municipalities are listed separately. In addition to the region, these communities will then also be allocated their own subpage on the campaign website to use as desired. They will moreover be listed in all results overviews (and so have the opportunity to win prizes), etc.

Definition of a ‘region’: A commitee by elected municipal parliamentarians is decisive for a region to also be considered in the “Most active municipal parliament” category.

Marketing for cycling !

Communication and public relations work for sustainable mobility are more important in municipalities than ever before. Experts are calling on municipalities to allocate sufficient funds from their annual budgets. The German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure explicitly names TOUR du DUERF / CITY CYCLING in its National Cycling Plan 2020 (NCP) as a good example of a suitable measure. In the NCP, the German federal government recommends municipalities allocate between €0.50 and €1 per inhabitant and year from their budget for what it refers to as “non-capital measures”, which include communication and marketing activities. This should more than cover the cost of participation in the CITY CYCLING campaign.

A variety of options also exist in the event of financial constraints:

You could approach the relevant ministries in your home country and request funding for the CITY CYCLING / TOUR du DUERF campaign.
